WHAT WAS ONCE A
In a neighborhood known for its green spaces and classic Miami character, how can you add and update without detracting from the existing authenticity? In this case, our update to a local parking garage—transforming it into part office, part garage, and part street-level storefront—was an exercise in answering this question.
The new building will consist of a series of intersecting volumes, with top floors enclosed in glass and dedicated to office space. But for the floors below, a garage clad in terracotta helps maintain the natural warmth of the Grove. And with stylish storefronts remaining the focus for pedestrians and passersby, each part of the structure serves a distinct and related purpose.
