THIS BUILDING LIVES
IN HARMONY WITH
Most malls have a long, flat site—but this one was built on a slope, offering three levels with equal access to provide an exceptional case of the plan responding to the land. The first development of its kind in the east part of the city, Terra Mall features fashion anchors, a supermarket, cineplex, restaurants, and shops, in addition to open-air public spaces.
One large public court in particular is marked with and open-ended archway, surrounded by restaurants and enhanced by a soft-flowing water feature. This space, which looks out toward an active volcano and mountains in the distance, fulfilled a personal vision for the owner and the architects on the project—and in doing so, also received recognition in the form of an ICSC award.
